Those first few days....a poem....a prayer...

The first few days...
the days of fun & frolic...
even though a little chaotic...
the aspirations are high...
so is the perspiration...

In the midst of all the anticipation...
here comes a realization...
to realize the brighter shades from anything that is remotely Grey...

While I pray, my heart gets suffused with a bright ray...
a ray that shall guide me if I am ever in utter dismay...

From the shores that provide me the depth to be human...
to the terrains that aspire me to chase the dreams...
I shall embrace the beauty and the filth of all...

as I stand between the black & white...
may I become the lightest shade of Grey in the times of the steely white...
and the times of hideous black...

may the first few days be in the remembrance..
whilst the future actions gather the courage from the innocence of the first few days...

In the times of melody or the cacophony...
may i remember the first few days...

Guardian Angels by C. Upasika Maithreya

It's been a year[approx] since I came across an interesting poem titled 'Guardian Angels' by one of my class mate, Upasika Maithreya.

Like all other talented classmates, she also inspires me in many ways. This time through her inimitable poetic skills.

As you enjoy reading it, try recognizing the 'Gurdian Angel' through her poetic endeavour.

Guardian Angels

Welcome to my world and you will see it all,

Every desktop and conference hall,

My day is filled with joy and fear…

I smile as I hand out promotions and hear the cheers

I dread the pink slips drenched in tears.

Skipping along from interviews

Rushing to see if people keep curfews

Final need as Maslow says

Self actualisation is what everyone craves.

Salary, allowance and basic pay

Your pay pack survives on K.R.As

A noisy Union wanting a hike,

Threatening forever to hold a strike.

Heard it all

Sweet tit-bits and a harsh word

A complain that the canteen serves smelly curd.

A swollen finger a stolen bike

All this business I don’t particularly like!

Labour laws make me swoon

Failing to solve a problem spells doom.

Setting right the office goon,

Sharing the grievance of the peon

By the time I’m done its well past noon.

Tired I enter my office room

Phone comes alive like a buzzing snake

Sigh that’s the end of my much awaited break.

Training a group of CEOs,

Polishing soft skills that are at an all time low…

I must confess

A wrong move lands me in a lot of mess.

Integrity, honesty, happiness

Get to see these less and less.

So my day goes by and by

Handling the HR of an organisation Oh My!

We do it all in a days work

Handing a perk

Hiring a clerk

We are the guardian angels who soar by

And cradle the organisation taking it high!

A poem & beyond.....

Dark is beautiful-

I made a mark because
I recognised the dark....

The darkness within
that have set the inner colours free.....

Colours that make the grass turn green,
the sky turn blue and
the sun turn yellow.....

But it's the darkness that adds to my inner depth
so that I can appreciate the world in it's
complete length and breadth....

I made a mark because
I appreciated the dark....

When the fervor is mellow,
the darkness says hello....

But the light is suffused in the dark
it's up to you to see the light so that it can make a mark...

Indeed, dark is beautiful
as it's the colour of the soulful.....

So stir the soul
& embrace the dark....

Dark is beautiful....

WOW and British Council presents 'Dark is beautiful'- An International Woman's Day campaign for 2009 where various forms of art, story, music and interactive programmes will be used to change the toxic belief that a woman's worth is measured by the fairness of her skin.

I am participating in the poetry competition and would like to request everyone to join the campaign with high enthusiasm.

This link provides the details of various contests you can participate in.

Agneepath....

I do not intend to sound overtly dramatic here but we all have certain propellers in our life which inspires us to walk that extra mile when situations do not look very bright.

I have one such propeller in my life. It's a Hindi poem written by Harivansh Rai Bachan many years ago. It's titled 'Agneepath' [ Path of Fire] and it's as follows:

"Vriksh ho bhale khade, ho ghane ho bade, Ek pat chhav ki mang mat, mang mat, mang mat Agneepath Agneepath Agneepath.

Tu na thakega kabhi, tu na thamega kabhi, tu na mudega kabhi, Kar shapath, kar shapath, kar shapath, Agneepath, Agneepath, Agneepath.

Ye mahaan drishya hai, chal raha manushya hai, Ashru swed raqt se lathpath, lathpath, lathpath, Agneepath, Agneepath, Agneepath."

-Harivansh Rai Bachchan

The poem speaks about the human spirit which in spite of road blocks and several adversities must always forge ahead towards victory....

There are delightfully surprising aspects in our lives. Some of them are granted to us like mother's love for her children, unconditional friendship, the joy of living diverse roles in life, gifts of nature etc....and for the rest we need to walk through the 'Agneepath' [Path of fire]....

Treading through the 'Agneepath' is inevitable in life as very little is ever granted to us. Whatever little is granted to us; we do not understand it's worth.

It's the 'resourcefulness' which is granted to us by the 'Divine' & the 'Nature' so that we can recognize it and gather the 'resources' necessary to tread through the 'Agneepath'.

The Mirage

Dead tired, brocken into pieces I enter the cocoon of hope....

As I close my eyes to illuminate my inner world with bright rays of hope; prayers come out from within my soul...

Prayers that silently calls you to merge into my mystical world....

The mystical world of solitude, which for years gave me enough reasons to despair and lament....

As I open my eyes; I see you.You and your eyes could not stop gazing at me....

Amazed by the fog of my remorse stricken look, You continue looking at me with your dazzling smile....

My soul gets a vibrant life at your beautiful look,Felt as if you read me like an open book....

My ambiguity rose to the summer mercury level; Wondering what's going in your heart....

To my utter dismay I realize that's the same old mirage which made a fool out of me....

Dad used to say 'History repeats itself' but I must tell you my once upon a time sweet heart that if this was a page of a history then you shall remain as the most treasured page of that history....

The best poem I have ever read

Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though;

He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there's some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.......

Poem lyrics of Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost.
